What is a scholarly / peer reviewed article and how do I find one?

Overview

Certain journals require that the articles submitted to them for publication be reviewed or evaluated for accuracy by other scholars or editors who are experts in the same subject areas (peers of the author) before they accept them for publication. Articles from these journals may also be referred to as 'scholarly' or 'refereed'. Articles that are peer reviewed have more authority because they have been checked for accuracy by other experts in the field instead of relying solely on the author’s sound research and truthfulness. Most databases have a checkbox under the search box to limit your searches to just peer-reviewed articles.
