Why is it asking me for another login or saying the IP address is not allowed when I select one of the databases?

Overview

When you are trying to get into one of Davenport’s article databases or are given a link to an article and you are asked to login and your Davenport login doesn’t work, it usually means the database is not able to authenticate you as a Davenport student. This happens most often when the person providing the URL link, copied a link that was not permanent/persistent and it expired or it doesn’t include our proxy server information. Most of our databases have a place in the article where you can retrieve the persistent URL and it will include our proxy server information.

If you have a link that is not working, the best option is to go straight to the database page and go in to the database referenced in your citation or the URL and re-do the search. If you do not have enough information about the article and can’t tell enough from the URL, you will need to get a persistent URLfrom the person who gave you the link.

If you are trying to enter the database from the database page and are blocked, please take a screenshot of the message and send it to Julie.gotch@davenport.edu and she will follow up.
