How do I add material to a content area in Blackboard?

Overview

The following instructions will guide you through creating a new item in your course such as an assignment, link, or a test.

Instructions

1. Click the “Edit Mode” and switch to “On.” This will display all content areas of the course, even those which are unavailable or have no material in them).
2. Go to the content area in which you wish to add your material (e.g., upload a syllabus).
3. Mouse over the "Build Conent" option.  If you want to create text, select "Item," otherwise if you are uploading a file, select "File"; if you are creating a document package, select "Document Package," as well as anything related to YouTube, Flickr and more can be done under the "Build Content" option. You can also add documents to the end of a text item in the attachments section.
4. Type in your text in Section 1 or browse to the document in Section 2.
5. Set options as needed and click “Submit.”
6. For folders and external links, click the option under the “Build” button menu.
7. To create a test, survey assignment or self and peer assessment, mouse over "Assessments" and select the appropriate item.
8. To create a blog, wiki and podcast mouse over "Tools" and select the appropriate option.  To include information from publishers (eg: Pearson, Cengage), mouse over "Publisher Content" and select the appropriate option.
