What are blogs and journals? Where can I find them?

Overview

Students:

Blogs and journals are a way to communicate with the instructor and with others in your class. The blog is public and all students and instructors will be able to read this. The journals will be more for the instructor and your viewing. This will be a way to let the instructor know what’s going on without sending an email. Both the blogs and journals are a great way to keep in touch and pass along information in one spot, instead of several emails or discussion thread posts. Some instructors may use blogs or journals for assignments as well.

To access blogs and journals, typically the instructor will create a tool link on the left hand column of your Blackboard page. If it is not there, you should contact your instructor.

Instructors:

Blogs and journals exist as tools within the course environment. Instructors can access them from the “Tools” area in the “Control Panel.” Instructors can provide access to students through “Tool Links” on content pages, the “Menu,” and/or the “Tools” page. Students access group blogs and journals from within a group space.
