Student VPN Access

Overview

This article provides instructions for connecting to the Student VPN (student-vpn.davenport.edu) with your personal computer using GlobalProtect and Duo multifactor authentication (MFA).

If you need access to the Student VPN and do not have Duo MFA set up on your account, please visit https://my.davenport.edu/mfa or contact the IT Student Support Center (SSC) at 1-877-899-1499 or ssc@davenport.edu.

Instructions

Connecting to the Student VPN on a Personal computer

Install the GlobalProtect App on your device

Windows & MacOS:

  1. Open your browser and navigate to student-vpn.davenport.edu. Log in using your DU credentials and verify it's you through Duo MFA.
  2. Download and install GlobalProtect. If you have a 64-bit OS, choose Download Windows 64-bit (middle choice) or 32 bit, if not. The MacOS app is the third link. Follow the prompts to complete installation.
    • Note: You only need to navigate to student-vpn.davenport.edu using a browser the first time you try to connect to the Student VPN. Once you have installed GlobalProtect on you computer you can use the app to connect to the Student VPN via the instructions below.

ChromeOS:

  1. Download and install the GlobalProtect app from the Google Play Store.

Connecting to the Student VPN using GlobalProtect

  1. Launch the GlobalProtect app (installation instructions are outlined above).
  2. Enter student-vpn.davenport.edu into the "Portal" textbox and click "Connect."
  3. Your web browser will prompt you to log in with your DU account credentials (username and password).
  4. Once you click "LOGIN" you will be prompted to authenticate via Duo. Approve the Duo authentication request on your personal device to complete the login process.
  5. Once you've authenticated via Duo, GlobalProtect will display "Success! Logging you in..."
    • If your browser asks you to "Open GlobalProtect?" tick the "Always allow..." checkbox and click "Open GlobalProtect"
  6. The GlobalProtect application should show that you are "Connected" to student-vpn.davenport.edu. You're all set!
